Discoveries is a 4-week acceleration program promoted by Fábrica de Startups and sponsored by Turismo de Portugal.
It helps tech startups in the tourism industry develop, validate, and grow their ideas through hands-on bootcamps, expert mentoring, and investor connections.

Teams from anywhere in the world can apply.
Each team must include at least two members, one of whom must be a founder.
Participants must be 18 or older, fluent in English, and ready to dedicate time to the program. Individual applications are not accepted.

Discoveries is looking for innovative tech startups that tackle key challenges in tourism from AI and automation to improve planning and customer support, to sustainable tourism that protects the environment and empowers local communities.
We also welcome digital solutions for SMEs, tools that enhance the tourist experience, and data-driven projects that turn information into smarter decisions.
Any idea that promotes innovation and sustainability in tourism with global growth potential can apply.

Applications for Discoveries 2026 open on October 14, 2025, and close on December 12, 2025. The selected teams will be announced on January 16, 2026. The Bootcamps will take place from February 4 to 25, 2026, followed by the Innovation Tour & Investors Day from February 25 to 27, 2026.

The program includes three online bootcamps and one in-person bootcamp in Portugal; three-day Innovation Tour & Investors Day and the final pitch to investors and industry leaders

Yes. Selected teams receive a financial contribution to help cover travel and accommodation costs: €740 for teams based outside Portugal and €300 for teams based in Portugal. Payment is made upon arrival and submission of a valid invoice issued to Fábrica de Startups.

No, participation is free of charge. Discoveries is organized by Fábrica de Startups and sponsored by Turismo de Portugal, bringing together expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation to foster the next generation of tourism startups.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selection is based on: the innovation and market potential of the idea; the team’s commitment and capacity to execute; Complementary skills and entrepreneurial attitude.
Shortlisted teams may be invited for an online interview and selected startups will be notified by email..

There is no guaranteed investment, but startups will pitch to a jury and potential investors during Investors Day, gaining valuable visibility and networking opportunities.

Teams must attend all sessions (online and in person), dedicate time to develop and test their ideas and participate in the Investors Day. The program is intensive and hands-on, active engagement is key to success.

Fábrica de Startups cannot be held responsible for any changes, postponements, or cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances or force majeure.
